Jičín / Ostrava, July 1, 2025 – The international project GeoNetSee, aimed at monitoring geologically unstable areas and protecting infrastructure in the Danube region, has been awarded the prestigious Flagship 2025 label under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
Led by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, the project demonstrates how top-level science can deliver real-world, practical solutions that enhance public safety and promote sustainable infrastructure.
MICRORISC is proud to be part of this important project by contributing its IQRF wireless technology, which serves as the core communication infrastructure of the project’s extensive sensor network.
What is GeoNetSee?
GeoNetSee connects universities, research institutions, companies, and public authorities across the Danube region with the goal to:
- Monitor landslides, terrain deformations, and other geological hazards in real time.
- Provide a cloud-based platform for sharing data, tools, and expertise.
- Deploy geodetic stations in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, integrated with the European reference network.
The Role of IQRF Technology
IQRF wireless technology ensures:
- Reliable data transmission from thousands of sensors, even in harsh terrain conditions.
- Low power consumption, reducing maintenance demands and supporting environmental sustainability.
- Open architecture, enabling easy integration of additional devices and analytical tools.
Why Flagship 2025 Matters
The Flagship 2025 label is awarded only to projects that:
- Deliver measurable societal impact.
- Promote cross-border cooperation and knowledge transfer.
- Demonstrate a scalable and replicable model for broader regional development.
Moving Forward Together
“GeoNetSee is a shining example of how academic excellence combined with industrial innovation can enhance safety and sustainability throughout the region. We are proud that IQRF is helping to bring this vision to life,” says Vladimír Šulc, CEO of MICRORISC.
MICRORISC will continue to collaborate with the VSB-TUO team on expanding the sensor network, developing new IoT modules, and preparing pilot installations in other high-risk areas.
